Josef SEITZ's biography
Josef Seitz is working since 1990 as an international expert in the field of environment and sustainable business development.
He studied scientific chemistry at the Universities of Regensburg and Freiburg in Germany and holds a Master of Engineering from the Cologne Technical College in Germany.
From 1991 to 1992, he gained his first international experience in Costa Rica as a scientific assistant within the Integrated Plant Protection Project implemented by the German Development Cooperation (GTZ).
Between 1992 and 1996 Josef worked as an independent consultant and environmental engineer in Germany and France focusing mainly on the management and valorisation of hazardous waste.
He joined GTZ in 1996 as an environmental expert and advisor to the Ministry of Environment of the Kingdom of Morocco where he was in charge of environmental policy and private sector cooperation until 2000. There he also directed an innovative project regarding the implementation of CDM in Morocco.
From 2000 until 2004, he worked for GTZ in Argentina as a Sustainable Development Expert, Program Manager and Team Leader at the Program for Urban Industrial Environment providing consultancy for industrial associations and enterprises and advising environmental authorities on policy issues.
Josef organized, for instance, the International Forum “Sustainable SME 2003” directed at the decision-makers in industry, politics, civil society and universities in order to discuss the challenges and demonstrate the opportunities of sustainable development and corporate social responsibility.
In 2005, he joined a French Consulting company and became Regional Coordinator for the Life Environment Program of the DG Environment (European Commission) where he was responsible for the evaluation and monitoring of the French Life projects.
In 2006, Josef founded Global21, a consulting company based near Toulouse in France which provides advisory services for internationally operating organisations and companies. Global21 focuses on interfaces between business, environment and development.
