Chemical industry and REACH Helpdesks Maghreb

Strategic consulting, planning and moderation

Between February and April 2009, Global21 participates in the planning and preparation of the REME-GTZ project activities for the Maghrebian chemical industry sector.

The tasks include:

  • coordination of the project activities for the Maghrebian REACH helpdesks;
  • elaboration of the terms of reference for training sessions and workshops;
  • preparation, realization and moderation of the sector’s planning workshop;
  • elaboration of a position paper regarding the Maghrebian Employer’s Union.

As a major outcome of the mission the Maghrebian chemical industry associations elaborate during their annual meeting the draft for a partnership charta committing themselves to promote free trade between the Maghrebian countries by integrating at the same time the principles of sustainable development into their enterprises. Furthermore, they sign a draft for a common position paper, directed at the Maghrebian Employer’s Union (UME - Union Maghrébine des Employeurs) proposing to take this precursor initiative as example for the Maghreb region.

Josef Seitz intervenes as facilitator for the whole process.
