Supervision of an Environmental and Social Impact Assessment in Gabon

Private oil companies operate since decades in Gabon, an ecologically highly sensitive country. In order to connect the isolated town and oil extracting site Gamba to the national road system, the company Shell finances the construction of a road. Passing between a National Park and the coastal line, the road will have an environmental impact on the rich biodiversity, but also foster local development in the region.

Global21 is in charge of supervising the environmental and social impact assessment and advises on development options for this sensitive area.
